Ten Independent groups endorsed by Independent Network

The Independent Network has been overwhelmed by endorsement requests from local Independent groups. In the run up to the local elections 2011, it seems that Independent groups from across the country are looking for a national identity which the Independent Network offers.

The endorsement process has been streamlined to ensure that it is locally governed and administered. It now allows an endorsed group to endorse other local councillors and candidates into their group and therefore into the Independent Network itself.

Endorsement enables candidates to take advantage of services such as a national media campaign, research and legal advice.  Sharing the IN identity and a committment to the Bell Principle provides a benchmark of credibility for independent candidate. Previous media coverage includes the BBC Politics Show, The Guardian, The Times and The Economist.

Having launched our new endorsement process just two weeks ago we have already endorsed ten independent groups who represent over 80 independent councillors. These endorsed groups now have the power to endorse Independent candidates locally both into their group and into the Independent Network.  All of the endorsed candidates have wholeheartedly committed their candidature to the Bell Principles: www.independentnetwork.org.uk/about-us/bell-principles.

The Independent groups that have been endorsed in these past two weeks are:

Bournemouth Borough Independents

Grwp Gwerin Gyntaf / People First Group

Boston Bypass Independents

Rotherham Independents

Morley Borough Independents

Better Bedford

Peterborough Independents

Lincolnshire Independents

Independent Telford

Ashford Independent
